Frequently Asked Questions

What Are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi permanent and made from synthetic hair. They are applied directly to your natural lash. Eyelash extensions are used to enhance the length, curliness, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes.

What is the difference between a Classic, Hybrid and Volume set?

Classic: A method where 1 extension is applied to 1 natural lash. Classic set is ideal for clients who already have a lot of lashes and are not recommended for clients who have sparse lashes.

Hybrid: Extensions are applied in the ratio of half classic and half volume fans, giving the appearance of a more wispy, Kim K effect. Hybrid set is ideal for clients who are looking for a slightly fuller look.

Volume: Extensions are carefully handmade into 3-6D fans and applied to 1 natural lash, giving the appearance of a fuller, fluffier look. Volume is ideal for clients who are looking for a fuller and more dramatic look.

What are the benefits of eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions create a youthful appearance, can open up the eyes, lengthen, and add volume to natural lashes. The main advantage of getting eyelash extensions is how much time it can save during your beauty regimen!

  • Mascara and eyelash curler is no longer needed (and not recommended)
  • Eyelash extensions can give the illusion of eyeliner at the base of the lashes
  • Perfect for special occasions such as weddings, vacations, parties
  • On days where you don’t want to wear makeup, you’ll look like you’ve put in effort when in reality you can say “I woke up like this!”

What is the eyelash extension procedure like?

Each appointment starts with a thorough consultation, and time to discuss which style of lashes you would like. After cleaning and priming the lashes, your bottom eyelashes are protected with a collagen eyepatch or with medical grade tape – both of which is safe for sensitive skin. The extensions are applied one at a time to your natural lashes. It’s a very relaxing, comfortable, non-invasive procedure and most clients do fall asleep. Go ahead and take a beauty nap and wake up with gorgeous lashes!

How long does the eyelash extension procedure take?

Depending on how many natural lashes you have and how many lashes are being applied, it can take between 80 – 120 minutes to apply a full set. Fills can be done in as little as 60 to 90 minutes.

How often do I need an eyelash extension refill?

Refills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to maintain fullness and to replace lashes that have shed. A refill after 4 weeks will be considered a full set.

Are eyelash extensions harmful to my natural lashes?

Not at all! Eyelash extensions are applied to your natural lashes one by one, and will shed with the natural growth cycle of your own lashes. Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out within a cycle, every 60 to 90 days. When a natural lash matures and falls out, a new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it. HOWEVER, there are some ways that can cause damage to your lashes:

  • If you are constantly rubbing or pulling at your lashes
  • Poor Hygiene – not cleansing or brushing the eyelashes daily can cause product and dead skin build up at the base of the lashes.
  • Through incorrect application from the lash artist – Please do your research before getting them done!

How do I prepare for my lash appointment?

If you wear waterproof mascara, discontinue use 3 days prior to your appointment. The compounds in these products will remain on the lashes, even after properly cleansing. This will prevent the extension adhesive from properly bonding with your lashes and your extensions will not last long.

Arrive with a fresh clean face and impeccably clean lashes.
Residual oils and makeup remaining on the lashes will only prevent the adhesive from properly bonding. This point needs to be stressed – do not arrive still wearing eye makeup. Less cleaning. More time. More lashes. It is absolutely acceptable to wear facial and brow makeup, but NO EYE MAKEUP.

Avoid oil-based products on and around the eyes.
Apply eye cream sparingly, if at all. If you use an oil-based makeup remover, make sure that is removed completely from the eyes as well. Oil is the kryptonite to lash adhesive.

Remove your contacts, if you wear them. It’s recommended to wear glasses on the day of your service and have a case for your lenses. Being contact-free is a safety precaution and ensures you leave with happy, healthy eyes and lashes.

Please make sure to inform your technician of any known eye conditions before your appointment, in cases of infections or allergic reactions — this treatment may not be suitable at this time.

  • Eyelash curler
  • Sauna
  • Hot Yoga
  • Hot oven
